Cannabis flower, commonly known as marijuana or bud, is the mature flower of the cannabis plant. It has been used for thousands of years, both for recreational and medicinal purposes. Its psychoactive properties are primarily attributed to the compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain to produce its hallmark effects. The sensation of euphoria, relaxation, altered time perception, and amplified sensory experiences are some of the well-documented effects of THC.

Additionally, the cannabis flower contains a plethora of other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that contribute to its unique aroma, flavor, and potential therapeutic benefits. As research progresses, there’s an increasing interest in understanding the synergy between these compounds, often referred to as the “entourage effect.” This effect posits that the combined action of the cannabis compounds may enhance the therapeutic properties of the plant, making whole-flower preparations potentially more effective than isolated compounds.
